Business Mentoring

Business mentoring is fast catching on in South Africa as the most powerful and effective way to grow MSMEs quickly and successfully all over the country. This is because a less experienced person learns most effectively in a good working relationship with a more experienced person

Business Mentors for Success comprises a group of diverse, talented and experienced business mentors who have pooled their talent, skills and experience to offer a range of mentoring services to MSMEs, programmes and organisations, and businesses in the business of developing people.

Our Services
We offer a diverse range of mentoring services depending on the needs of the client:

  • Individual mentoring
  • Group mentoring (one mentor working with several mentees in a group )
  • Individual mentoring from more than one mentor in the event of specialist requirements

 

Mentoring can be offered face to face, by telephone, email and Skype, or in any combination of these services.
Group mentoring can be offered face to face, or by telephone conference, Skype conferencing, or by means of a specialist Ning networking group. 

Our Business Mentoring Team

Gavin Tonks Gavin began an independent consultancy in 1990. His clients have ranged from The Office of the State President, through large corporations to small businesses who retain his walk-in services on a retainer basis.  Gavin’s clients are airport concessionaires, catering and franchises to mentoring small business on behalf of a large corporate bank. Gavin has performed intervention management and workshopped over 2000 small businesses for the Enablis business plan competition. He is the winner of the 2002 Enterprise Business Plan competition.

Gavin Tonks

Jan BeetonJan Beeton works in business development support with micro enterprises in both urban and rural areas.  She is a business mentor with youth entrepreneurs. She designs and manages mentoring programmes, evaluates enterprise development projects, and is publishing a multi-media kit on mentoring.   She is a personal development mentor with the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Entrepreneurship Development Programme and the African Leadership Academy.

Velaphi Mtshali  provides accounting, business management and tax services to SMMEs.  He is a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators and works as an accountant, an internal auditor, financial manger and also as a credit controller.  He is a business mentor with the SAB Kickstart programme and with Khula Enterprises. He is also a mentor with the Institute of Business Advisors.

Velaphi Mtshali

Anne Hilton Anne Hilton provides small business support services in the emerging SMME environment.   She designs and manages mentorship programmes and specialises in access to finance for the emerging market.    Anne also works with micro and small businesses and serves on the Board of the Institute for Business Advisors in South Africa, where she is an accredited business advisor.
